Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King
Posted on Sunday, June 28th

The first album released by Dave Matthews Band since Stand Up, Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King has the band going back to their roots. The album showcases the instrumental talents of the band that surrounds Dave. The track “Why I Am”, which is a tribute to the recently deceased Leroi Moore, is a song that brings a jamming baseline and plenty of room for a sax tribute in a live version. While the band seems to stray back to the Stand Up sound on songs like “Seven”, the CD overall is an excellent tribute to their fallen band mate. - Anthony Cirincione
