The Mars Volta – “Octahedron”

While The Mars Volta are playing festivals throughout the summer, they have just released an album that is going to have people running for tickets to their next show.   The sound that accompanies the band on this new album is one with shredding guitar and a heavy foot on the drums.   It all comes together on tracks like “Cotopaxi” and “Luciforms”.   The band has a softer side they show with great lyrics over a quiet rhythm in “Since We’ve Been Wrong”.  Overall you get a little bit of everything, from a heavy sound to a quant escape into the gently side of this band.
