Death Metal and Psychedelic Rock were two genres of music that were never intended to go together, but good luck convincing LA’s Isis of that. Not only do they mix two types of music on opposite ends of the spectrum – they sound damn good doing it. The guitars don’t barrage your eardrums with noise so much as they paint masterpieces. “Stone to Wake a Serpent” is a personal favorite, it’s a bit on the heavier side but I’m still not sure I should head bang or drop acid.
