Dizzy Whore is a sleaze metal band from Youngstown that is trying to bring back classic 80’s hard rock and judging by their debut album, the Desperate Side of Rock and Roll, they’re off to a great start. Despite playing a style of music that lost its popularity in the early 90’s, they do a good job of making their music sound pretty current. However, they’ll appeal to fans of 80’s metal more so than fans of modern rock. There are a decent variety of songs on the album but it sticks to typical sleaze metal song categories. The rock anthem, “The Desperate Side of Rock and Roll”; the acoustic ballad, “No Emotion”; and the sexy love song, “Moana McKinney”. Staying with the categorical song styles of an average sleaze metal song isn’t bad by any means, but the point is variety isn’t uncommon amongst bands like Dizzy Whore. Actually experimenting with music or changing things from the tried and true style would have been a bad move for a debut album, it could have turned some potential fans away. Either way, Desperate Side of Rock and Roll is a solid album and is recommended for fans of Guns N Roses and Cinderella. Dizzy Whore is definitely a band people should keep an eye on.
