Join the Ryan Humbert Band for a special fundraising concert to benefit Project REBUILD. The show will take place on the historic stage of the Canton Palace Theater, located at 605 Market Street in downtown Canton.
The performance is the third in the highly successful series of shows that features The Ryan Humbert Band performing in an intimate acoustic setting, joined by a string quartet led by violinist Michael Houff.
The 10-piece acoustic band will be performing Humbert’s original songs as well as covers of songs by The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Wilco, Peter Gabriel, INXS and more. Aside from his regular band members and the string quartet, Humbert will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Andy Carlson, whose resume includes working with R.E.M, Nanci Griffith, Billy Bragg and more.
“Canton and Stark County has always been home to me. I was born here and I grew up here. I’m honored to bring our acoustic string-section show to such a beautiful and historic venue like The Canton Palace,“ Humbert said. “We’re also thrilled to be able to help support Project REBUILD and the important work they do here in the community.”
Founded in 1999, Project REBUILD is a Canton based non-profit that re-engages out-of-school, unemployed and underemployed youth (ages 16-24) to complete a high school diploma while learning marketable skills in the construction trades through the rehabilitation or construction of affordable housing. The program is a full affiliate of the national YouthBuild USA organization and incorporates academic education, life-skills and community service with on-the-job-construction training.
“We are so excited to partner with Ryan, his band, the community sponsors and the Palace Theater in a collaboration that will ultimately benefit the disadvantaged youth we serve,” says Carolyn Hess, Project REBUILD founder. “It is especially meaningful to me personally as I serve on the Foreign Film Committee of the Palace. Consequently, this single event serves two organizations close to my heart!”
Aultman Hospital, The Canton Development Partnership, Humbert Sanitary Service, Sirak Financial Services, Huntington National Bank, The Brownstone Steakhouse, Beaver Excavating and Regas & Haag, LTD are sponsoring the show, with special assistance from Arts In Stark, WHBC Radio, Fisher Foods, A.S.A.P. Solutions and The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
As an added bonus to this event, Ryan Humbert & Emily Bates will have copies of their new CD “Tell Me What You See” for sale for the first time. A special after party will be held at The Brownstone Steakhouse (Located directly next door to the Canton Palace) immediately following the show.
A special preview of the show will happen the night before the concert during Canton’s First Friday. Ryan and members of the Strung Out band will perform the first ever “First Friday Rooftop Concert” on top of Primo’s Restaurant, located on the corner of 4th and Court Street in downtown Canton. This special performance begins at 8:00 PM.
