I grew up in the 1980s. There was Pac Man, Rubik’s Cubes, ET, Thriller and…. the Two Coreys. Corey Feldman and Corey Haim first teamed up in the vampire flick, The Lost Boys, and continued to thrill audiences acting in six more movies into the early ‘90s (License to Drive, Dream a Little Dream). As their teen idol star power faded, both actors ended up moving in new directions. Haim moved onto prescription meds and selling his hair and teeth online (no joke). Although the two reunited for a reality show in 2007-2008, his story ended tragically earlier this year when he died of an accidental overdose.
Corey Feldman, on the other hand, continued to grow artistically. He formed a band called Truth Movement and started touring and recording some decent psychedelic rock tunes. (Yeah, I know that this is kind of a gimmicky schtick but I’ve heard much worse music from other “serious” musicians.) Corey’s brought in some serious heavy hitters (former members of Pink Floyd and Rat Dog) to flesh out the roster and their influence can be heard in the songwriting.
Now, after more than a decade of making music, Corey Feldman will steer his goonie train through Northeast Ohio again. The band will be playing at The Beachland Ballroom May 23 and Annabell’s May 24. With some great local acts opening both nights, these are a couple of shows you can’t miss.
