Legendary singer/songwriter/actor Kris Kristofferson will be playing at the Kent Stage on Wednesday, June 9th. Kristofferson’s long history includes rubbing shoulders with some of country and folk music’s biggest stars, such as Willie Nelson and ex-wife Rita Coolidge. He also dated Janis Joplin, writing one of her most well-known ballads “Me and Bobby McGee.” He has written with Shel Silverstein and had his songs performed by legends like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Ray Price.
While Kristofferson didn’t achieve the same level of fame for his musical performances, many of his original works were adapted by other artists and have become timeless. These hits include “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” “I Wont Mention It Again,” and “For the Good Times.”
He has also had an extensive movie career, acting in blockbusters such as Planet of the Apes (2001), Blade I & II, and Payback.
His resume is extensive, diverse and extrordinary. Now, audiences can hear him tell his story himself, as well as perform some of his own original material. We suggest you check Craigslist for tickets because we hear they’re all sold out.
