Wakey!Wakey!'s Mike Grubbs

Wakey!Wakey!'s Mike Grubbs

By E.M. Serensky On Tuesday, June 15th, Wakey! Wakey!, the New York City based indie rock/pop band will be gracing the House of Blues in the Cambridge Room. They will be joined by the Spring Standards, an up and coming group with a lot of soul. Wakey! Wakey! consists of Mike Grubbs on lead vocals & piano, Anne Lieberwith on bass, Tanya Buziak on backing vocals, Patrick Doane on violin, and Max Tucker on drums. Together these individuals merge to create an ensemble that overflows with fun, dynamics, and musical talent. Wakey!Wakey! is mostly Grubbs’ thing. Inspired by and a part of the NYC Lower East Side’s anti-folk movement (hipster’s hipsters if you will), Grubbs saw Regina Spektor one night and decided that it was time to see what he could come up with. The eccentric Grubbs has been soothing the piano and then slapping it around for a while now, and he’ll be hawking his new cd, Almost Everything I Wish I’d Said The Last Time I Saw You. If you own a hip sweater, eat vegetarian, and have ever gotten in a fight about William Blake, Buzzbin demands that you show up for this one.
