‘Loud,’ ‘crazy’ and ‘amazing’ are just three of the words that can best describe an August Burns Red show, and they definitely apply to their show on Wednesday night when they played at Musica. Also on the bill that night were a few other metal bands; My Children My Bride, Ichabod Crane and The Approach and the Execution. All of whom put on incredible shows as well. By the time August Burns Red was ready to take the stage the crowd was already pumped up and excited for the show, even though Musica was packed full of people and because of the size of the crowd and all the dancing and moshing going on it was getting really hot and uncomfortable in the club. They opened the show with their hit “Back Bunrer” off their second album Messengers. Like all their music it was loud and fast, but it was exactly the kind of music the crowd had come to hear and they were completely into the song. The show was a mix of songs from all three of August Burns Red’s albums that they had released to date, their most recent being Constellations which was released just last year. No word yet on when their next album will come out but the band is constantly working on writing and recording new music, when their hectic touring schedule permits them to do so. It’s incredible to think that even though this band is still quite young, they have already accomplished so much in their career. It’s obvious that music is their passion and they put everything they can into making their music sound as good as they can, and so far it has paid off for them. All three of their albums have sold incredibly well for them, and they have headlined and performed on several tours in just a few short years, many of which have also included some of their idols and biggest musical influences. They closed the show with another classic off their middle album called “Composure.” It was a great way to end the show and get everybody pumped up one more time. The guitar playing on this song was completely amazing, it could stand on its own without any of the other things going on around it, but those other things, the singing, screaming, and other instruments that are also playing at the same time, especially the drums only serve to make sound better and to enhance what the guitar has already. If you weren’t fortunate enough to be able to catch August Burns Red when they performed at Musica on Wednesday night, you missed a truly great show, but there are a few more shows on their tour in this area of the country you can catch them at before they leave the country, go check them out if you can, you wont regret it.
