On Saturday night, the NEO (Northeast Ohio) Roller Derby girls took on the Skee Town Skirtz and Motor City’s Disassembly Line in a double header bout. Things weren’t looking too good after NEO’s Audio Assault lost the first bout to Skee Town, but the NEO Rock’n'Rollergirls pulled together and pulled off a huge win over Detroit in the second bout; with a final score of 156-79. Everyone who came out to support the girls was a huge help, cheering them on to a victory. If you missed this one though don’t worry there are still a few more bouts coming up this season. Check out their website (NEORollerDerby.com) for full details.
Like all of NEO Roller Derby bouts, this one was raising money for a local charity. The featured charity this time around was Upside of Downs, a charity that helps local families that are raising children with Downs Syndrome. They provide education and support for these families that could not be more deserving. NEO managed to raise both money and visibility for the charity. In between the two bouts they also had a special presentation from the American Idols Cheerleading Team; a team of girls of all abilities. The girls did a great routine to the Hairspray song, “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” The kids did a wonderful job performing and the crowd had fun watching them as well.
While the bout was going on, Buzzbin staffers had the red carpet out and were passing out magazines and taking pictures of as many fans as they could. We are appreciative to everyone who stopped by our table and gave the magazine some support. Fans had the opportunity to pose for pictures with the staff and get a copy of the latest issue of the magazine. Everyone at NEO Roller Derby had a lot of fun and it was a great way to raise money for a deserving charity.
