By: Julia Kazar The Barberton blues band The Heights is getting ready to perform at The Backstage Concert Club in Akron on Saturday, July 24th. The Woovs, another Barberton band, is opening for them. Formed just a few years ago, The Heights are becoming one of the biggest bands in the area, creating their own unique sound and drawing from a ton of classic rock influences, including everything from The Beatles to Neil Young to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Late last year The Heights released their first demo, We Are The Heights Band, which you can check out on their MySpace page. “My Baby”, the first song off the demo, is a mix between the blues and classic rock’n'roll and would fit into any rock enthusiast’s music collection. The guitar playing is simply incredible. This band has some real talent and, as long as they continue to work hard and put out more music that follows this pattern, nothing will be able to stop them. If you’re looking for something fun to do this Saturday night, come support The Heights as they play The Backstage Concert Club at The Lounge, located on Paul Williams Street in Akron. Tickets are $5 for 21+ and $7 for those 18-20. They are also playing The Northside in August. Try to make it out to at least one of the shows and give this talented band some much deserved support.
