See. You just can't argue with science.

Slayer. Megadeth. Uhm…does it get more brutal? Oh. Yeah, Testament.  The North American Carnage tour shoved off in January and is careening though Ohio on its twenty something dates. This holy metal trifecta of awesomeness can be found playing Tower City Amphitheatre, Aug 18th, doors at 7pm.

This tour was originally put on hold because of back issues, Slayer’s vocalist/bassist, Tom Araya’s had to take care of ongoing health issues that required minimally-invasive treatments for Cervical Rediculopathy, an occupational hazard for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Araya had his surgical procedure in February.

With the addition of Testament, this is the first time that all three bands have toured the US since 1991. Which, coincidentally, if you got into metal “late”, maybe because you hadn’t been born yet, this will be the first time you will have seen them all play together. This is what you would call a “must see” event.

Slayer and Megadeth are touring their most recent albums, Slayer’s World Painted Blood, the bands 10th studio venture, and Megadeth’s 2009 album ENDGAME. Press outlets have cited earlier shows off this tour as “a night of thrash impossible to trash”. The bands have hour plus sets planned, word is that they are going heavy on the old stuff.  Since they’re also touring new albums, the tough choice was which new songs to play.

Fans can call Slayer one of America’s greatest rock bands, without even splitting genre hairs. Revolver, SPIN and Metal Hammer have crowned Slayer “Best Live Band”. World Painted Blood presents the Slayer-ized view of the world. They covered topics like genocide, a doomed political system and a widespread ignorance of global horrors. This album dominated the “Best Of” lists throughout 2009 and even scored a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance on “Hate Worldwide”.

For Carnage Tour, Araya has promised, “no ballads, no acoustic numbers and no slow tempos”. Nice. Although we don’t get Anthrax, they have been added to the Carnage fall shows, or Metallica, the guys just can’t seem to make it work, you’re going to have a sweet time. I can promise you that you will see boobs (maybe hot, maybe not), get drenched in beer and maybe get your armed signed. So, pack some beers and try to tailgate, Heavy Metal Parking Lot-style.[book id='' /]
