You don’t have to be the super fan to enjoy a Red Wanting Blue show. Their electric live shows and constant touring began to wear down a terminally jaded Ohio audience. Over the last year, Red Wanting Blue signed and re-released their eighth album and embarked on tour. Red Wanting Blue with Down the Line and Tom Evanchuck will be at the House of Blues, Cleveland, November 27, doors at 7:30, show at 8:30pm.
Red Wanting Blue has playing Athens since 1995 and the rustbelt rockers take a simple, cut and dried approach to their craft. They’re style has been compared to a wilder Tom Petty yet managed to invoke a college aged audience. RWB taps into a wealth of starving artist experience, leaning toward an edgy indie-rock cubby hole. They rock a little bit harder than your run of the mill pop-rock but strip it down to show you the unfinished inside.
Perhaps the most extraordinary thing about Red Wanting Blue is their live show. They have a way of playing like tomorrow isn’t coming, like nothing matters but the present. This is something that anyone, fan or not can relate to. Genres and lyrics aside, that organic moment is something that doesn’t need a label or clever jingle, it just grabs you.
