Psychological illusionist, hypnotist, mentalist, voice actor and cruise-ship speaker — the only thing that might be more amazing than Joshua Seth’s stage show “Beyond Belief: An Intimate Evening of Psychological Illusion” is the man’s resume. A native of Kent, Seth graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1991. From there he moved to Hollywood, where he used his talents as a voiceover artist in over 60 movies and animated films, including “Batman”, “Digimon” and as the voice of Tetsuo in the cult classic “Akira”.
Seth’s exciting live show has stunned audiences around the world with its one-of-a-kind combination of hypnosis, psychological intuition and humor. TV Japan called him “the number-one American hypnotist”, and American Entertainment Magazine declared him “amazingly captivating”. Seth brought his unique brand of mentalism to Kennedy’s in Cleveland’s Playhouse Square February 3, and followed it with a college show the next day.
Seth’s amazing skills may have a genetic component: His father was a hypnotherapist. After seeing a performance of Blackstone the Magician at age eight, Seth was captivated by the art of illusion, planting the seed for a career that has spanned years and taken him across the globe, headlining shows on cruise lines. A certified hypnotist (CHt) with the National Guild of Hypnotists, Seth is also the author of two books.
Seth and his wife recently relocated to Bath from Hollywood, where they are expecting their first child. He hopes his “Beyond Belief” show captures the same attention here as it did when performed at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. If it does, Seth’s show may become a Northeast Ohio fixture.
