Dead Zebbra: Peachy Keen

Dead Zebbra’s new album “Peachy Keen” is a damned cool throwback to the glory days of 1992. With a grungy groove and wreckless style that is part Nirvana and part Green River and Mudhoney, these 3 misanthropes from Springfield Illinois definitely know how to bring the noise. This cd is jam-packed with loud rocking guitars, solid powerful rhythms and screaming yet tuneful throat shredding vocals. Every song is a keeper and there are no throw-aways. I find myself driving my car way too fast to this cd and it definitely makes me want to bang my head like a complete psycho.  Some highlights are ‘Bite” and “Martha Stewart’s Erotic Prison Writings”, the latter of which reminds me of Bleach era Nirvana with it’s driving riff and groove that feels like you are on a head-on collision with a brick wall. These guys are clearly huge Nirvana fans and that is never a bad thing in my book. If you are a fan of abrasive guitar anthems and the 90’s grunge sound then you will absolutely love this band and this cd. I highly recommend it. Dead Zebbra will be at The Carriage House on April 2nd and at Annabells on April 3rd! For more info: www.myspace.com/deadzebbra www.reverbnation.com/deadzebbra www.facebook.com/deadzebbra?sk=info
