Art Is Alive! Annual Art Fest Thrives!

Everyone’s favorite Arts Council is usurping a date usually relegated to everyone’s least favorite government agency. Beginning April 15, there’s truly more to death and taxes: There’s art, and it is ALIVE! Helming the two-day art show and sale again this year, ArtsinStark has assembled an impressive group of local artisans and craftspeople. From intricate beaded and bedazzled baubles to metal sculpture, artistically appointed greeting cards, stationery, handmade books and every variety of fine art, you’ll find it here — not to mention a few feathered fedoras and a collection of clay robots. Still not getting the picture? Picture this: ArtisAlive is an artsy flea market with way better stuff and an open bar. For $2 (for both days, plus free parking), you have access to all this and more. No need to leave the premises for lunch, either — nosh on Old Carolina Barbecue, Flipping Egg Rolls, Happy Hour Kettle Korn and Rachel’s Calzones. (And did we mention the OPEN bar?) And if art, food and a free bevy of beverages aren’t enough to entice you towards the Cultural Center, perhaps two day’s worth of live music will be: Friday, April 15 Denny Ott (saxophone) 5-8 p.m. Thom Ebersole (accordion & vocals) & Art Mastin (guitar & vocals) 6:30-8:30 p.m. Michael Bastas (keyboard & vocals) 8:30-10:30 p.m. The Ananda Center Dancers 8:30-9 p.m. Jimmy Chesterfield (guitar & vocals) & Joe Waller (percussion) 9-11 p.m. Saturday, April 16 Rock, Salt & Nails (acoustic folk) 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tim Griffiths (guitar & vocals) 1-3 p.m. Richard Moore (vibraphone) 3-5 p.m. All attendees will have an hourly chance to win gift certificates, good at the show. Get your picture taken at the A Studio Photobooth, and check out the Canton Artists League annual spring show for free at the museum. If you find yourself inspired by the 75 artists and craftspeople showing, take a mini-workshop with Tim Adam, artist and author of “How To Make Money Using Etsy: A Guide to the Online Marketplace for Crafts and Handmade Products”. Buzzbin will see you there on Friday, April 15, from 5 to 11 p.m. or Saturday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Or both.) Visit ArtisAlive.com for more details and a full list of everything and everyone that’s happening at this year’s jamboree.
