Little Fish Records announced that Carlos Jones and members of his P.L.U.S. Band (aka The Peace, Love, Unity Syndicate) are heading off to Washington D.C. where they will team up with Norman Jones (Carlos’ brother) and his Rhythm Child band to perform at the 133rd Annual Easter Egg Roll at The White House, on Monday, April 25th. This year’s theme is “Get Up and Go!”, which focuses on promoting health and wellness, while encouraging children to lead healthy and active lives. This is a central part of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! Initiative, which is a national effort to combat childhood obesity, according to the White House Press Secretary. (For the full White House press release on this event with a list of all performers and activities, go to www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/04/19/white-house-announces-2011-easter-egg-roll-program-and-talent-line) The Rhythm Child Network, a non-profit formed in 2003, was selected for their ongoing excellence in children’s musical education and entertainment in and around the Los Angeles area for the past 10 years. They have played to sold out audiences at The Grammy Museum, Kidstock Music Festival, Geffen Playhouse, Club Nokia and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to name a few. When Norman Jones got the call from the White House staff a few weeks ago, he had to share the news with his brother, and insisted that he join him on stage along with Will Douglas (drums) and Peter Platten (keyboards) from the P.L.U.S. Band. The brothers then collaborated on a song, appropriately titled “Get Up and Go”, in honor of the event, and will perform it live – their first-ever public performance together – at the White House on Monday, April 25th. The song is available for free download (for a limited time) at Rhythm Child’s site here: www.reverbnation.com/c/fr5/artist_557479?eid=A557479_8379694_ Carlos Jones, a pioneer in the American Reggae scene for over 30 years, is just finishing up a new recording scheduled for release in June, following up his 2009 release of “Leave A Trail”, and has launched his own brand of coffee (“Positive Vibrations”) recently.
