The eighth annual Vexfest is back again to offer fest-goers over 40 bands on four stages. The free music festival drew more than 8,000 attendees to Federal Street West in Youngstown last year, and this year’s event, in the same location, is expected to draw even more people. While the all-day music fest does feature acts from all over the country, fest organizers try to keep the lineup as local as possible. Headlining this year’s event is electronic psychedelic duo Boombox, consisting of DJ/Engineer Russ Randolph and DJ/producer Zion Rock Godchaux. Live Randolph handles the drumming while Godchaux sings and play guitar over a sonic soundscape. The group’s strength is in their ability to improvise during their live sets.
