Ask any teenager or young adult what they think of when they hear the phrase “summertime” and they’ll tell you bikinis, beaches and music. And festivals become a staple of the summer season. Whether you pack into your car and go to Lollapalooza or you wait for Warped Tour to come around, usually there’s some way to catch some of your favorite bands. And guess what! This week we’ve got Warped! Vans Warped Tour started back in the 90s and the music was primarily aimed towards the punk rock scene. The tour was sponsored by popular skater shoe brand, Vans. Since then this tour has become a staple of summertime and added genres other than the punk scene to the ballot. Warped Tour nowadays is a sort of rite of passage for bands. Hundreds of people go to the tour to check out one or two of their favorite bands and during the time between sets, they check out other bands performing on up to 10 different stages. It’s a great way for any band to grow their fan base and a great honor to be included on this tour. And with bands joining and leaving the tour at different times, you’re guaranteed a line up that’s a bit different from the last city. Among the many bands playing throughout the day at Warped Tour’s new venue (Blossom Music Center), Ohio’s got Colorado electronic rappers, 3oh!3 who are most well-known for their tune “Don’t Trust Me.” Also representing is Paramore who made their mainstream debut in 2007 with their album “Riot!” and the single “Misery Business.” When you add in Christian rockers, Relient K and pop punkers, Simple Plan, you can’t help but be in awe of the headlining line up coming to Ohio. But don’t think that the awesomeness stops there. Dubstep, punk, pop, rock, metalcore, screamo, electronica, ska, reggae and indie all share the tour and you’re guaranteed to find something worth checking out. Just cruise on over to the Warped Tour website and see for yourself what’s going to be at Blossom on Wednesday. But don’t expect me to tell you when every band is playing, because that’s how they get you to Warped Tour and keep you. It’s an all-day affair and you won’t regret it (but you may regret not wearing cooler clothes).
