First Friday is one of the biggest events in downtown Canton, whether it’s the art studios that draw you or the bands playing or the drinks, it’s just something to check out. But this month’s First Friday has something a bit extra. Trialogue Studio’s opening coincides with the event. Trialogue Studio is brought to you by local artists Sue Steiner, Sarah Winther Shumaker and Laurie Grace Fife Harbert and its public opening will be Friday, Aug. 5. Steiner and Shumaker originally had their art displayed upstairs at 2nd April Galerie but were moving their art into a space downstairs and wanted a partner so they asked Harbert to join in the space. Their art doesn’t have a lot in common, but all three had been looking into getting a space in downtown Canton so Trialogue is the perfect home for them. Sue Steiner specializes in equine and animal art. She has an affinity for faces, figures, nature, flowers and living organic shapes and just having fun with art. Sarah Winther Shumaker was an art instructor who began exhibiting her work in 2005. She uses anything from watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, ceramics, fiber and collage to create her art. Laurie Grace Fife Harbert does a lot of everything, whether its water color, acrylics, digital photography, jewelry and found object sculptures. They want to make art more accessible to people, and that is certainly something that they have in common. “If you can see, you know something about art,” Harbert says. And with that in mind, they hope that people who would not normally be interested in art will find something interesting at Trialogue and to get people interested in what’s going on in the art district. Make sure that you stop by the opening tomorrow because they want to have a party and have fun and they would love for you to join.
