TRI-C DIVISION OF CREATIVE ARTS ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL PLAY COMPETITION CLEVELAND – The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Division of Creative Arts will hold its second annual play competition for playwrights who are residents of Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Indiana. Original full-length plays of any genre are eligible, except musicals and adaptations. Plays must be at least one hour in length. The deadline for submission is October 15, 2011. A committee will select the top three plays for possible production by the Tri-C Theatre Department the following season. Winners will be notified by February 10, 2012. The first place award is $1000, second place is $500 and third place is $250. The award ceremony will take place in Cleveland on March 3, 2012 and will include a play reading by Tri-C theater students and a reception. Playwrights will be invited to attend, and a travel and accommodations stipend will be provided. Winners must attend the reception to receive prize money. There is no entry fee and submitted plays will not be returned. Submissions should include a cover page with the name of the script, the playwright’s name and address, email and phone, and character and set breakdown.
