ArtsinStark is looking for great ideas to increase student learning and, if that’s not enough, be truly innovative. Beginning Monday, September 12, ArtsinStark begins its 5th year of Special Project Grants, offering up to $150,000 to area non-profits, schools and individual artists. Special Project Grants will be awarded in two areas: 1) Innovation and 2) SmArts – programs that “supercharge” learning.
Completing a Great Idea Form is the first step in the Special Project granting process. “By using this simple form, applicants can get immediate feedback on the feasibility of their grant request,” said ArtsinStark Grants Officer Anne Wadian, who indicates that the Great Idea Form will be on the website (artsinstark.com) and in the office, 900 Cleveland Avenue NW, Canton.
The Great Idea Form is a one page document that requires an organization, artist, or school to briefly explain their project, the impact it will have and the estimated dollar amount sought from ArtsinStark. Once the form is complete and returned, an official grant application will be given to the requesting organization /artist to supply additional information. “The Great Idea step is essential, “explains Wadian,”as it allows us to assure that the requesting organizations are submitting ideas that meet our criteria before they get too far into the process.” Personal guidance and workshops are available in October to all organizations, artists, and schools that need assistance in preparing the actual grant application.
“We’re interested in funding as many projects as possible,” says Max Deuble, chair of the ArtsinStark grants committee. “We want everyone to be successful.”
Knowing the key dates is a first step:
Sept 12 – Great Idea forms available
Oct 24 – Submission deadline for Great Idea form
Nov 11 – Deadline for “official” grant application
