Akron/Family is ready to kick 2012 off with a bang: touring North America and launching a new record label, Family Tree Records. Supporting AK on all tour dates will be Denver’s Bad Weather California, who are also the first signees to Family Tree Records.
Family Tree Records follows in the footsteps of Fahey’s Takoma Records, Elephant 6 and Young God Records, artist-run record companies born from a desire to create their own context to more truly reflect their music and artistic vision, driven by a sense of independent thinking, ideas, and values. The label’s first release will be Bad Weather California’s Sunkissed, due out in early 2012.
They are also proud to share a new video for “Cast A Net” from Akron/Family’s S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT. The video follows a young protagonist as she journeys through a maritime wonderland. Directed by Percept Visual’s Brian Ziffer this video perfectly captures the soothing qualities of “Cast A Net,” which plays like the perfect bedtime fairy tale.
Akron/Family will make a stop at the Beachland Ballroom early next year on Jan. 19, 2012.
