As Black Friday slowly becomes technologically advanced, smaller manufacturers are using the internet to their advantage. Pelican Brewery decided to do just that when they offered a special Black Friday sale for their Mother of All Storms brew.
Almost immediately, their system crashed. Because that’s how much Americans love craft beer now. Immediately after the crash, they took to Twitter to say this:
Sorry for the store frustrations with ordering MOAS. Site isn’t handling popularity. Took live cam feed down to see if that helps. Tech guys are looking into shopping cart issue. Stay tuned…. Backup MOAS order procedure: call Ken at the Pelican after 9am 503-965-7007. Hopefully tech guys will have site working soon. The next morning, they were at the phones when this happened:
We’ve been up all night working on our online store and now phone system that crashed. Stay tuned! #BlackFriday #MOASRumor is that the president of the company was personally manning the phones. We love that craft beer is this popular, but it’s unfortunate that the thirsty customers had to deal with it. Everything is back to running smoothly, now, and Pelican is surely thankful for the publicity. It was a great (if hectic) holiday weekend for them, after all!
