The last Batman film was a cookie-cutter case of how viral marketing actually works. People paid attention, and the result was one of the most successful film openings in history.
It looks like the new flick (Christian Bale’s last), The Dark Knight Rises, will follow suit. Wired Magazine has posted a CIA file online that offers clues about the plot. The number one and two question that come up: who is Leonid Pavel and why is he missing?
Empire Magazine received a similar piece of paperwork the next day. We can expect this trend to continue until the film’s opening weekend. It looks like Bane wants to blow some shit up, and Batman is going to stop him. As the little details (like Catwoman’s involvement…yum) come out, it should get even more interesting.
Fortunately, not all of the clues are gritty faxes. Hollywood Reporter has some information about the 8 minute (!) long trailer that will be entering theaters next month. We can’t wait to see Tom Hardy’s Bane. Until then, here’s a smaller peek:
What do you think? Are you looking forward to the new Batman Flick? Are you sad to see Christian Bale leave? Who do you think can replace him?
