John Schwandt Brings Silent Films to Life 2/17

February 17 – Canton – Christ Presbyterian Church Renowned organist Dr. John Schwandt, Associate Professor of organ at the University of Oklahoma, is bringing to life two silent films, “The City Slicker” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, at the Christ Presbyterian Church in downtown Canton on Friday, February 17th at 7:30pm. The comical film, “The City Slicker”, stars silent film legend Harold Lloyd as a city boy who lands a job working in a country hotel. Hilarity ensues when Lloyd introduces a variety of gadgets and gizmos to the oblivious hotel staff. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel about a blind, deaf and deformed hunchback named Quasimodo. The iconic actor Lon Chaney performs alongside Ruth Miller to bring Hugo’s classic to life. Organist Dr. John Schwandt is Associate Professor of organ and founding Director for the American Organ Institute at the University of Oklahoma. He’s a nationally acclaimed performer well known for his silent film accompanying, improvisational skills and musical versatility.
