Finalists selected to compete in the Repository’S Battle of the Bands
Seven bands have been selected to compete in The Repository’s Battle of the Bands to be held Saturday, March 3. Now in its ninth year, the Battle of the Bands is Stark County’s largest rock and roll competition featuring local high school talent.
The event, made possible through headlining sponsor Westfield Belden Village and opening act sponsors Horizon Audio and Kent State University Stark, draws more than 1,200 audience members to watch bands compete on the stage of Canton’s historic Palace Theatre. The following bands have been selected and competing students represent these Stark County schools:
§ Good Hours, Jackson High School
§ Honest Abe & The Rail Splitters, Lake High School
§ Less Than Three, Hoover High School
§ MessyFace, Jackson High School
§ Oh Tear the Veil, Louisville High School
§ Orange Rhyme, GlenOak High School
§ White Sky Outcast, Hoover High School
At the Battle, the bands will be graded on entertainment value, overall sound, originality, overall performance and crowd reaction. The winning band will receive a valuable prize package along with a showcase performance at the June First Friday in downtown Canton.
Students from across Stark County are invited to attend The Repository’s Battle of the Bands, Saturday, March 3 at the Canton Palace Theatre, located at 605 Market Ave. North in Canton. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:00 p.m. Discount pre-sale tickets are available for $8 (cash only) at Westfield Belden Village at the Concierge Center next to the Food Court entrance (M-Sat. 10-9pm, Sun. 11-6pm), Canton Palace Theatre, Horizon Audio and The Repository. VIP seating is available for $20, including a T-shirt, glow necklace and prime auditorium seating. Tickets are also available at the show for $10 ($5 Palace surcharge applies with credit card ticket purchases.)
