Akron’s High School Students Invited to Make Films, Have them Shown, Win $250 Registration open now; contest starts April 15th AKRON, OHIO — Akron Film+Pixel offers an opportunity for teams of student filmmakers, ages 13-19, to have their work seen in the “Just Another Day” Student Video Contest. They’ll have two weeks (April 15th to April 29th) to make a five-minute film about one day in their lives. It might be a true story, it might be exaggerated or fictional. Every entry will be shown on Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at a special event at the Akron Art Museum that will be free and open to the public. This is a chance for students to invite their teachers, family and friends to see their creative work on the big screen. An independent panel plus an audience vote will determine the winner, which will be announced later that evening. The winning team will receive $250 cash and their film will be screened again as part of the Akron Film+Pixel Festival in 2013. There is a $20 entry fee per team and no limit on team size. Teams must supply their own cameras and other equipment. Special conditions, such as a line of dialogue and a prop that all teams must include, will be unveiled at an orientation on Sunday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Akron Art Museum. Each film must be under five minutes.
