The annual 2 Wheeled Pony sponsored Motorcycle Scavenger Run Benefit will be held again this year commencing on Saturday April 28, 2012. In addition to the Motorcycle Scavenger Run there will also be a free pre-run Pancake & Sausage Breakfast as well as many door prizes that will be up for grabs for participants. This year’s event is a benefit for the Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County in memory of Chuck Lyon. The Motorcycle Scavenger Run will be held from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at 2 Wheeled Pony located at 23 Kimber Road south of Wooster, OH right off Route 83. The Pancake & Sausage Breakfast being offered is free but donations will be accepted with proceeds going to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County. To participate in the benefit Motorcycle Scavenger Run will cost $10.00 per person or $15.00 per couple. The run has a pre-determined route covering nearly 100 miles. “This year’s benefit is in memory of Chuck Lyon,” commented Mike Hawkins, organizer of the annual event and owner of 2 Wheeled Pony. “Chuck was a motorcyclist his whole life and a great friend to bikers. He loved people, loved motorcycles and was a big proponent of our past benefits.” Lyon, 71, of Apple Creek, OH, a lifelong Wayne County resident, passed away on March 1, 2012 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. He was a motorcycle rider for nearly 60 years and was an ardent supporter of motorcycle benefits over the years. “Chuck was a great friend to many people, and many, many riders. When we started planning this a few months ago I asked Chuck who we should do the benefit for and he was the one who suggested the Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County. So that’s what we’re doing.” Organizers are accepting donations for door prizes and donations to benefit the Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County in Chuck Lyon’s honor. “Businesses that donate door prizes will get plenty of exposure and plugs the day of the event,” stated Hawkins. “They can be dropped off or give us a call. We’re also open to ideas and even if you don’t have a motorcycle, you can still drop by in your car and have breakfast and check the bikes out and make a donation.” The event is open to all street legal vehicles. To drop off donations stop by during business hours: Monday – Thursday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Friday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
