In anticipation of the Massillon Museum’s 18th annual Island Party, the July “Do the Mu!” workshop will be a fun opportunity to help make decorations. The “Do the Mu!—Island Party Mixed Media” workshop will be held on Saturday, July 7. “Do the Mu!” is free and open to everyone. Participants may drop in any time between noon and 2:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month for a Museum activity. No pre-registration is required. On July 7, artist Meghan Spence-Vadasz will help participants of all ages create their parts on a giant mixed media artwork to be displayed at the Island Party on Friday, July 13, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. “We know people love to have a vested interest in the Museum and its events,” said Museum Educator Jill Malusky. “This will be a chance for folks to help prepare for the Island Party, then come back to enjoy their work and show it off to their friends.” The Island Party is a reggae night and pig roast on the Massillon Museum lawn—a “thank you” to the community for its continuing support. Admission and children’s activities are free; food and beverages are reasonably priced. Everyone is welcome; bring a chair or a blanket. Visitors on July 7 can visit the Cheri Mohn Studio M exhibition, Hard Edge and Picasso Paintings; the Massillon Tiger football exhibit, The Paul Brown Era; two Civil War displays; a photography exhibit about Massillon’s historic Fourth Street; and The Immel Circus. It’s also fun to take some silly pictures in the vintage photobooth and visit Oscar the Skeleton. The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East (Ohio Route 172) in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots.
