Dirty hands and knee pads are a given at this month’s First Friday, as Chalk the Walk returns to the streets on June 1 from 6-10 p.m. in the Canton Arts District. Twenty teams of artists, including Jeff Keirn’s infamous Chalk Monkeys, will be on the loose and running wild with ideas that range from the surreal to the sublime. It was less than a year ago that local band Eclectic Mayhem was crowned the winner of Cleveland Hard Rock Café’s Battle of the Bands. Making it to the second round, the band was chosen by Bruce Springsteen’s lead guitarist Stevie Van Zandt as one of the top 40 bands nationwide. Finalists selected to compete in the Repository’S Battle of the Bands Seven bands have been selected to compete in The Repository’s Battle of the Bands to be held Saturday, March 3. Now in its ninth year, the Battle of the Bands is Stark County’s largest rock and roll competition featuring local high school talent.
