We caught up with Dalin Jones, bassist and vocalist of Son Of Neckbeard, Canton, Ohio's own horror rock band. Here's our 10 questions for Son of Neckbeard: Who the hell is Neckbeard? Neckbeard is the being. He is the alpha and omega. He is the creator. He's so much bigger than anyone could ever be. We always pictured him as some type of Viking god, but it takes so many parts to be a god. So we're the Son of Neckbeard. Tell me about what inspires your sound? There's just a really broad spectrum. We're fans of everything from Sleep, FuManchu and all the way back to bands like The Doobie...

The Atom Age Kill Surf City When Rocket From the Crypt called it a day, well, it sucked pretty hardcore. There wasn’t a band quite like RFTC (immortalized in the Danko Jones song “RIP RFTC”) and arguably there wasn’t a better live band to come from the mid-90s rock boom. There was the whole fast California feel, the scorching leads, the pounding rhythm section, the horns that were insanely rock ‘n’ roll (not ska!) and the pompousness of a band that new they were the best game in town whether the crowd knew it or not. The Atom Age worship RFTC. Some tracks on “Kill Surf City” at...

There’s not a specific moment in time, or even a single project, that would define his contribution to underground rock over the last 30 years. He’s just been around — in and out of bands at will, leaving behind a recorded history touching on updated blues from the Gun Club, trashy rockabilly cum psych revulsion with the Cramps and eventually Nick Cave’s steely appropriations with his assorted Bad Seeds. Lauding one of those gigs over the others is pretty pointless, too. Each marked ...

By Hack Harbinger Don’t like radio music? Do you want to go heavier, darker and deeper? Then check out Stonebride, a four-piece band from Zagreb, Croatia. I think Dracula was from around there and probably would have nominated these guys to write his life soundtrack. “Inner Seasons,” the five song EP, takes you down a demented rabbit hole that would have Alice praying for light. Blues driven at its base, the sound takes Mississippi mud and stews it with a heavy psychedelic vibe that hasn’t been tapped into since Black Sabbath. If you are into three-minute songs, look elsewhe...
