CACTUS / The Juke Hounds concert / Tangiers – Friday, May 4th “CACTUS - The American Led Zeppelin.” Those are tall words, but that is in fact what people were saying about Cactus when this first "Super Group" hit the scene in 1970. Cactus flamed out brightly after only four albums at the end of 1972. With rockers such as Van Halen, Monster Magnet, Kings X., Billy Sheehan, David Coverdale, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent having been documented in interviews as fans of the loud and proud ‘70s sensation. Cactus is back and the party begins as Cactus "V" leaps from your woofers and knoc...

After the sorry disappointment that was Tenacious D's movie "The Pick of Destiny", it looks like D fans are getting a bone--or maybe two. Jack Black and Kyle Gass just released a music video titled "To be the Best." The video is whetting their fan's appetites ahead of the band's May 15th release of a new album, "The Rize of the Fenix." The video features the rise, fall and rebirth of the band in a kind of tabloid show format. Also appearing are a slew of celebrities. This summer Tenacious D is hitting the road. They recently announced a 16-date U.S. tour to promote the new album. ...

Game of Thrones fans: we're all chomping at the bit for the second season of the Emmy nominated (congratulations, Peter Dinklage!) fantasy series, but fortunately for us HBO was nice enough to release a promo for the filming of the second season. From the looks of it, things are only going to get more dramatic. The show has been called "The Sopranos of magic," and similar things, since Sean Bean lost his head, but that isn't stopping us from enjoying the hell out of it. Also, in the trailer below you'll notice D.B. Weiss wearing a stick-figure shirt. That's from the FREE online game King...

Show starts @ 7:30 PM, just after the costume contest. Doors open @ 6:00 PM. Prop bags will be available for $8. Also, you can fi...

“Whether I like it or not, the band is my number one priority.” With those words, Billy and I settled into our seats behind the 13th Floor Gallery’s front counter and started an interview that rambled, went off-point and eventually summed up enough about the new Ludwyg album, “Violent,” that I’m officially excited about the CD release party on February 19th. While we chatted, local artist and gallery regular Scott Phillips continued working on the first of three large pieces that will be chopped up and distributed in each of the 666 physical CDs. The atmosphere stayed relaxed ...

3v0cGueuq8o By Julia Kazar ‘Loud,’ ‘crazy’ and ‘amazing’ are just three of the words that can best describe an August Burns Red show, and they definitely apply to their show on Wednesday night when they played at Musica. Also on the bill that night were a few other metal bands; My Children My Bride, Ichabod Crane and The Approach and the Execution. All of whom put on incredible shows as well. By the time August Burns Red was ready to take the stage the crowd was already pumped up and excited for the show, even though Musica was packed full of people and because of the...

Canton’s own Macy Gray recently released her fifth studio album, The Sellout.  This is a very personal album for Gray and she doesn’t shy away from talking about what she was going through when making the album with her fans. The first track on the album, “The Sellout,” is about how when she first started this project- she planned to make a straight pop album.  But as she went on she realized that she wasn’t being true to herself and, because she didn’t want to become a sellout, she knew she would have to make some changes so the album would truly reflect who Macy Gray is. Th...

Despite a few technical problems during the beginning of Friday night's show, The Woovs still rocked out  Akron's own Key West, The Harbor Inn. Special friend of the band and former employee at the Harbor Inn, Renee Kintz, opened the show. She played barefoot, and her soulful voice had the audience whistling for more even with the microphone screeching throughout her performance. Before performing a song about mistakes, Kintz said, "Mistakes are fun to make." But singer Adam Lengyel of The Woovs didn't seem to think the technical mistakes from the sound booth were fun. During their boxi...

By Ernest Rockingway The whole world has just been given a birthday present from Trent Reznor. The present is “The Slip,” the new album from Nine Inch Nails. The birthday he’s celebrating is for this thing we call Rock 2.0. Trent gets it and celebrates its birth with all of us. For those who don’t know what Rock 2.0 is, it’s what Buzzbin is all about, going straight to the fans — cutting out the corporate machine and saying “I hear you dude, we’re in this together.” Trent’s opening statement right on the homepage of his website says, “Thank you for your continued and l...
