Airbourne No Guts, No Glory When Airbourne stormed onto the circuit a few years ago with “Running Wild,” it was a straight, brutal throwback to AC/DC and Rose Tattoo with a bit of sharper edge. The album was arguably better than some of AC/DC’s recent efforts (sans “Ballbreaker” which was and is insanely underrated), and certainly had the energy and tenacity of a “Let There Be Rock” or “Assault and Battery.” Unfortunately, “No Guts, No Glory” is the inevitable sophomore slump. Like so many bands before them Airbourne honed its sound and material for the first record, wh...

30 years ago MTV dominated and shaped pop culture by flooding our homes with music videos, catapulting musicians into mega stardom. In the 90's, MTV embraced generation X with relatable people on The Real World. Daria introduced us to emo-intelligent-apathy, and Kurt Loader taught us to appreciate the news. Today, MTV hosts shows about underage women with babies and fist pumping how to videos. Which reminds me, Jersey Shore season 4 premieres Thursday. Please, hold my calls. cZFIRoT4qBI By Julia Kazar “It’s Jeffree bitch!” screams Jeffree Star, the gender bending singing sensation to open the show, and the crowd goes crazy. Many of them have been waiting through four opening bands to see this show, and they are ready to rock. Peabody’s in Cleveland is almost pitch black, and the crowd is packed together shoulder to shoulder. The whole place is uncomfortably hot, and because of the lack of fresh air in the club, and the number of people packed in, you could smell the sweat from both the performers and fans. But none of that mattered the moment Jef...

By Jim Reynolds Hipnautized, like the best trendy dance pop, is adept at shuffling between the now and the best bits of the 80’s. Beginning with the buzzy synth bass and hand claps of the most popular single, “Gigahead”, the Hipnauts come at you with the new wave party rock of “The DJ Hates Your Dancing” and “Cookie Party”, bubbly synth pop like “Blue Skies”, the Bowie-flavored In “Obvious Places”, the shout-out-loud title track and even “The Lovin’”, an acoustic hair-metal ballad worthy of a late-night direct-order compilation. Some of the slower tracks, lik...

By Ernest Rockingway The whole world has just been given a birthday present from Trent Reznor. The present is “The Slip,” the new album from Nine Inch Nails. The birthday he’s celebrating is for this thing we call Rock 2.0. Trent gets it and celebrates its birth with all of us. For those who don’t know what Rock 2.0 is, it’s what Buzzbin is all about, going straight to the fans — cutting out the corporate machine and saying “I hear you dude, we’re in this together.” Trent’s opening statement right on the homepage of his website says, “Thank you for your continued and l...
