Located in the historic Brewery District, the Columbus Brewing Company hasbeen offering up spectacular brews since 1988. Six years ago, Eric Bean stepped in to purchase a portion of the brewery and has since then taken over the reins as brewmaster. This past year he bought out his business partner and now owns a majority share of the company. “Owning a brewery has been my dream since I turned 21 and the focus of my brewing career,” Bean said. “This gave me the opportunity to take an existing company and mold it into what it is today. This has not always been easy, but it has...
Take a trip back to the glory days of the 80's: synth pop, bright colors, fast cars and hot chicks with gigantic hair. Duran Duran were gods then. Still delivering the debauchery after all these years, The Cleveland State Theatre will host tonight's time-traveling fun. 10/19 Cleveland State Theatre • Cleveland...

One Tanked Trip was especially fun this month as I headed to a newly opened regional brewery. Located in the heart of Ohio City in Cleveland, Market Garden Brewery has been a work in progress for a while....
Ed. Note: This article first appeared in the Summer 2010 Youngstown Pulse. By B.J. LISKO Youngstown Pulse Magazine Editor If you are 30 years old or younger, you haven't seen as many local shows as Chris "Piggy" Williams. If you are 35 years old or younger, you still haven't seen as many shows as Piggy. I'd be willing to bet most anyone all the way up to the age of 50 hasn't seen as many Youngstown-area gigs as Piggy has. You really should know Piggy. If you don't, you should surely recognize him. And if you still don't, you're obviously about to. Piggy is the Pabst poster boy for a reaso...
There’s no better way to begin the end of summer than the musical stylings of pop-punk band The Summer Set. The band is currently on the Friday is Forever Tour with We the Kings, but the show at Musica on Sunday, July 31, is not part of that tour. The Summer Set just released an album earlier this month, so this tour is in support of that album, and lead singer Brian Dales said crowds are already responding well to the new music. Compared to “Love Like This,” the band had more time to prepare this album, so they had more songs to choose from when picking the tracklist. “I think it ...
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiered last night with thousands of midnight showings across America. Super Fans camped out, dressed up and spread some magic in Montrose at Regal Cinemas starting even before 8 p.m. Everyone from Dumbledore to Voldemort and even Luna Lovegood made appearances. Check out some fun pictures of your favorite Harry Potter characters! The movies and books may be over, but the magic lives on! ...
Now in it's 63rd year, Akron's Italian-Americans unite for three days of food, family and fun at Lock 3. Musical acts around the clock, children's entertainment, a movie world premiere (25 Hill) and a pizza-eating contest are all in store at this year's fest. ...
The band considers their show a “dance extravaganza for all ages” so you know this will be fun. Koo Koo incorporate sing-along verses and audience-participation choreography; you’ll have to battle your urge to shake your booty! MORE INFO HERE...
Free Show at Annabells! Combining the quirky, awkward-but-sexy nature of CSS with a more defined loud-vs-soft side, EULA is a fun new wave group from New Haven Connecticut. Their music is packed with the loud, pointed guitar riffs and rapid basslines that would make Northwest pseudo punk proud; think a blown out of proportion and hyped-up Kill Rock Stars release. More Info Here...

Just when you think you’ve got Welcome to Low figured out, Akron band The Hipnauts switches it up, almost daring you to switch songs before one is finished. Even the title is misleading—the album inspires anything but a low feeling in the listener. From beginning to end, it takes you on a topsy-turvy ride of sound, with a blend of genres ranging from touches of punk, techno, and rock ‘n’ roll to indie and electronica. What’s even more impressive is The Hipnauts’ ability to retain cohesiveness in an album where every song evokes a different mood. Starting the al...
By: Julia Kazar Like some twang with your crunch? With a little bit of country and a little bit of rock the Brackish Water Band is heading to Annabell’s in Akron on Thursday August 5th. They will be performing on the upstairs stage. The band is ready to rock your face Hank Williams style, or something like that. Needless to say their going to have some fun and we're going to wear ten gallon hats. Ten years ago, The Brackish Water Band formed out of the hills of Washington (state). Over the years the band has evolved into the good time country powerhouse they are today. See th...
By: Julia Kazar Shmalex, Joshy and Rawrb!, the members of the fun loving humorcore band Psychostick, are getting ready to wrap up their summer tour, but not before a stop at The Carriage House in Louisville. The concert takes place this Saturday, July 31st. Opening for the band is Look What I Did, a hardcore metal band from Nashville. Get ready for a night of head banging and eardrum shattering music. About a month ago I had the chance to talk to Rawrb! aka Rob Kersey, the band's lead vocalist, about the tour and what Psychostick is currently working on. “We recently releas...
3v0cGueuq8o By Julia Kazar ‘Loud,’ ‘crazy’ and ‘amazing’ are just three of the words that can best describe an August Burns Red show, and they definitely apply to their show on Wednesday night when they played at Musica. Also on the bill that night were a few other metal bands; My Children My Bride, Ichabod Crane and The Approach and the Execution. All of whom put on incredible shows as well. By the time August Burns Red was ready to take the stage the crowd was already pumped up and excited for the show, even though Musica was packed full of people and because of the...
