The Hooten Hallers These guys are right the hell on, playing just balls to the plasterboard blues rock. Smoke and whiskey vocals mingle with gruff falsetto harmonies, with bits of real wailing guitar intercepted. Like Jack White met up with George Thorogood, got all loaded up on blow and tried to sober up by jamming booze into their guts. It's a free blowing, go screw yourself, fest of well, hooting and hollering. They put a record out fairly recently. You should go get it and like the song says, “just leave me alone.” Village Bicycle Now, ol' Axelrod has always been of the persuasion...

The Franklin, Ind. -based and provocatively named punk-rock outfit Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes will make an appearance at the Buzzbin Art and Music Shop on January 20, in the midst of a tour that runs from Anaheim, Calif., to Cape Coral, Fla. The tour also includes stops in Las Vegas, Indianapolis and a handful of other Florida locales. The punk trio’s sound might be described as a mix of classic Breeders and the Dead Milkmen, with a noise-punk framework that is often interspersed with more straightforward musical sections. The song “White Cow,” for instance, begins as a riffy pu...

Dear Jara, Recently I started trying to find my old high school fling online. We were only teenagers at the time. Now well into my 40s, I’m divorced and wondering if she was the “one.” Do you know how to find people? Signed, Private Eyes Dear Private Eyes, No. I have no idea. And it definitely wouldn’t be anything called Facebook, definitely not. Or Google. Or the whole goddamn Internet. I guess you’re just doomed. Dear Jara, You seem like a cool chic. Do you have a boyfriend? Signed, Just Sayin’ Dear Just Sayin’, Thanks, dude. And yes, I have a boyfriend. I assu...

Just when you think Google can’t possibly put its monstrous, technological, futuristic, world-liberating hands in anything else, the company teams up with Dogfish Head Brewing to create “URKontinent,” a beer developed with input from the online community around the world. If you’re not familiar with Dogfish Head, you’re missing out. The excellent Delaware-based craft-beer brewery declares that its purpose is creating “off-centered ales for off-centered people.” The company started as a small brewpub in June 1995, focusing on specialty craft beers, but they’ve since expanded ...

So we've all had sometime to discover the new facebook layout. I don't know about you, but 90% of my "friends" are furious over the change. According to Cleveland.com, the majority of FB's 750 million users are pretty po'ed. Since this change was spurred by Google+ trying to sneak all up in this social media piece, be mad at them, not our good old buddy old pal Mark Zuckerburg. Don't forget, there is a real world out there, not just your FB SIMS & Farmville games...jeez. Alright back to Gears of War 3. Indie rockers Finding Fiction are hoping to join the laundry list of bands to break out of the Brooklyn New York scene. Buzzbin caught up with George, Mario and Luke from the band to discuss their writing process, playing house shows and their favorite breakfast foods. Buzzbin: The band has been together since 2008, what has changed in the group's dynamic since then? Finding Fiction: Just about everything. Finding Fiction's been going through some changes lately, so it's definitely having an impact on the sound. We've had some friends leave and others join, and each person tends to mak...

Gary Angelo is a staunch supporter of the Youngstown music scene and knows more about all types of music than anyone I’ve ever met. I used to think my tastes were underground or fairly off the radar until I met Gary. Not only did he know every single band I mentioned to him, he gave me about 50 others in the same relative genre that I had never heard of. Sometimes his reference points are so obscure you would swear he was making it up. Then you do a quick Google search, and sure enough an entire discography of some unknown gem of a band comes up and you can’t help but research them for yo...
