“I saw a grown man once riding one of those weird standup scooters down the side of the road — you have to tilt to make it move forward, I think it’s called a Segway or a Douchebag Way — wearing a toga and holding a sign for a pizza sale,” comedian Dan Cummins recounts in one of his standup routines. “My first thought was, ‘Congrats, you’ve hit rock bottom.’ But my second thought was, ‘If you took away just the sign, then that guy would rule.’” Meandering, abstracted and at times, a little bizarre, the comedic stylings of Dan Cummins has made him a huge hit among the 1...

Mr. 101 is a hip-hop fusion outfit out of Canton. Normally, appending the word fusion to the end of anything is a red flag for me - jazz fusion is usually bad jazz, Japanese-Mexican fusion is a dinner engagement I'm waiting to miss and hip-hop/rock fusion usually ends up being a rock band with a vocalist finally ready to admit they can't sing. Not everything ends up embodying the stereotype, however, and "Brain the Cerebral Balance" is much more the exception than the rule. From the drum crash that introduces the first track, "Introducing 101," to the subdued rock guitar that closes the set...

Apple promised to once again change the way we work, relax and listen to music with the release of its iCloud service in October. When it was first announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, the late, great Steve Jobs said it would demote the personal computer to be “just another device.” For those who aren’t familiar with cloud computing, it’s a pretty simple premise. Users are given access to massive servers that can store documents, emails, calendars and contacts. The advantage is that all this different information can be stored remotely, giving the user the abili...

Initially formed by guitarist Jeremey Poparad as a way to jam out with a handful of friends who were moving out of state, Axon-Neuron became something else entirely. Within a matter of a few months, the band banged out a full-length and even booked a few gigs in the Akron area. The result was Bring Songs, the band’s first full-length album in which they recorded in May of this year. The members of Axon-Neuron call themselves a rock band with jazz and classical influences but this writer sees things a tad bit differently. At first listen, the jazz and classical inspirations stick out like ...

If you live in northeast Ohio and haven’t heard of Stone Slinger, you must have been hiding in a cave for ten years — the Canton natives have played nearly every bar in the area. If that’s the case, come out of that hole and allow us to catch you up to speed. Stone Slinger consists of Todd “Wolf” Williams on vocals, Andy “Riffman” Masalko and Mike “Stone” Fisher on guitar, Neal “Beard” Franklin on bass and Kevan “Mountain” Phares rounding out the band on drums. Buzzbin caught up with the band over enough cheap beers and cigarettes to feed a village in Africa. Afte...

By: Julia Kazar Shmalex, Joshy and Rawrb!, the members of the fun loving humorcore band Psychostick, are getting ready to wrap up their summer tour, but not before a stop at The Carriage House in Louisville.  The concert takes place this Saturday, July 31st.  Opening for the band is Look What I Did, a hardcore metal band from Nashville.  Get ready for a night of head banging and eardrum shattering music. About a month ago I had the chance to talk to Rawrb! aka Rob Kersey, the band's lead vocalist, about the tour and what Psychostick is currently working on.  “We recently releas...
