Akron's four-piece band, The Vinyl, is one of those perfectly crafted rock groups with an accessible, radio-friendly sound that isn't over-produced or full of cheesy gimmicks. These guys play no-nonsense rock, and their sound is polished and well practiced for only just getting their start in the local music scene. The Vinyl is set to release its self-titled EP July 24, and the six-song disc is full of laid-back tunes that are perfect for lazy summer days. The disc begins with “Never The Same,” a tune full of watery guitars and hints of surf rock influences. The track picks up with c...

The band returned to Akron's Musica June 30 with an opening set by Ben Henderson, which the crowd learned would be his last on this particular tour. Henderson's quiet acoustic strumming was accented with his gritty yet soulful...

We have a string quartet joining us for a few songs about our brother.” Catch Maid Myriad’s first show in eight months April 22nd...

December 19 - Akron - Musica Fair To Midland doesn't sound like a very prog metal name, but don't let that fool you. Since 1998, these Texas cats have been jamming out dynamic jams. The band will be heading to Akron's Musica during their current tour in support of their latest record “Arrows & Anchors,” which was released by the E1 Music label. November 12 - Akron - Musica Don't Spill a Drop... For the past two decades, few bands have been brighter, more deeply influential indie radio beacons than Built to Spill. On Saturday, November 12, they’ll bring that well-earned reputation and road-honed repertoire to the Musica stage. Opening for Built to Spill will be White Pines — a shining center of the Akron music landscape in its own right — providing the bill with a collective one-two punch of sonic, emotive resonance. “I’ve been listening to Built to Spill since the mid-90s,” said White Pines frontman, Joseph Scott. “...

There’s no better way to begin the end of summer than the musical stylings of pop-punk band The Summer Set. The band is currently on the Friday is Forever Tour with We the Kings, but the show at Musica on Sunday, July 31, is not part of that tour. The Summer Set just released an album earlier this month, so this tour is in support of that album, and lead singer Brian Dales said crowds are already responding well to the new music. Compared to “Love Like This,” the band had more time to prepare this album, so they had more songs to choose from when picking the tracklist. “I think it ...
