The Human Furnace said it best: “Horrible Fest is a gathering of the sickest, shittiest, punkest, rudest, strangest, most horrible bands on the planet. Imagine the cantina from ‘Star Wars,’ but with disgusting music, more aliens, more explosions and more scumbags. It’s Horrible Fest! Duh!” Featuring a weird, wide array of bands, Horrible Fest VII will take place May 10 through 12, mainly at Now That’s Class, with a Saturday matinee show at Mahall’s. Since its start in 2005, Horrible Fest has taken pride in bringing together the filthiest underground rockers of the punk, metal ...

White Cadillac establishes itself as hard rock/metal force to be reckoned with By Mark Stevens “The greatest band alive. Ever.” That’s how B.J. Lisko ends an interview about White Cadillac. He laughs after he says it. Of course he doesn’t mean it. Then again … “Nobody makes a racket like we do on stage,” he said earlier in the interview. “It sounds arrogant, but I think we’re in a class by ourselves when it comes to that. But you should be confident about your band. “If you’re not confident, why bother? That’s kind of what rock ‘n’ roll is al...

One year ago almost to the day, the Blue Olive, the Canton jazz club housed in the basement of the Metropolitan Housing Authority on Cleveland Avenue, closed abruptly. The club’s owners had been evicted for non-payment of rent, leaving behind a bleak void in a city that actively celebrates every other form of the arts. Those looking for live music ended up driving to Cleveland or Akron, to venues like Musica or Peabody’s, or searched for open-mic nights at local watering holes. Now, if Nick and Josh Brewer, Curtis Miller and Luke Gaul have their way, downtown Canton will also be on the ...

When I think of Orlando, Florida, I think Spring Break ’88 or Disney World. This is a far cry from a band that is infamous for their bondage and S&M bondage image. The industrial metal/industrial rock/nu metal act, the Genitorturers has spent a somewhat quiet, under the radar career building a very passionate fan base, especially within the fetish community. The self-proclaimed “Sexiest Band in the World” is set to take Peabody’s by storm, November 11th, doors at 6pm, opening band is Mary Magdalan. They took the 1990 influences of hardcore punk and electronic music, and worked i...

...And it's NOT with more cowbell. The Welsh power-metal quartet, Bullet for my Valentine will be gearing up for their Cleveland appearance. This Saturday at Tower City Amphitheater, Bullet for my Valentine and openers, Escape the Fate, Black Tide and Drive A will help you with your mosh pitting skills. The doors are at 6:30 pm, Tower City Amphitheater. The venue is outdoors, the weather is supposed to be 72 and sunny. (Weather report is because I like you. Yeah…you.) Bullet’s European heaviness isn’t supposed to do well in America, however, their latest album “Fever” debuted ...
