In an old Nashville house transformed into a recording studio, Ryan Humbert and an eight-piece band geared up to record a stunning 18 songs in four days. The result: a heart-driven pop rock album infused with Americana, highlighting the trials and tribulations of human relationships. “Sometimes The Game Plays You” is an observation on how people interact in love and loss, but it’s not all heartbreak. “The last two songs,” Humbert pointed out, “they remind you that you’ll get through all the hard times and come out the other side a stronger person.” The music embodies the...

Unless you live in a hole, you know the Grammys happened last night. Adele took home a Grammy trifecta (best album, song and record), the Black Keys lost to Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse, and everyone was in tears about Whitney Houston's untimely passing. Buzzbin wrangled up some locals (which is a lot like herding cats) to give us their take on last night's event. Michael Socrates, If These Trees Could Talk: "I'm just happy to see Adele take home every category she was nominated in. She's fantastic and totally deserving of all the accolades being thrown her way. I actually proposed to...

When Ryan Humbert was approached by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to perform a tribute to the late Roy Orbison a few years back, he knew it was an honor and and would be a tremendous challenge. This past weekend, Humbert, who considers Orbison a major influence, got to pay homage to the legendary rock balladeer two more times, much to the delight of local Canton audiences. Practice makes perfect. During “Only The Lonely- A Tribute to Roy Orbison” the fundraising sponsored by the Canton Cabaret’s Rainbow Repertory, the Ryan Humbert Band took a crowd of a few hundred Frid...

Ryan Humbert was born to play music. Ok, so there are many Canton musicians who claim to have been born to play music.  Humbert, however, seems to have been not only born to play music, but to write, sing, produce and even market music. He sings with a powerful vibrato not often associated with pop and alt-country.  The tone he delivers is matched only by the feverish pace with which he crafts his lyrical artform.  However, what truly separates Humbert from all others is his uncanny ability to market music in unique ways. On November 5, 6 and 7, Humbert and his 10-piece string ban...
