Brutal Legend is perhaps the most creative game I have played in years. You are Eddie Riggs, an ex-roadie transported back in time into a guerrilla war that can only be ended by pure Heavy Metal! The game is filled with humor, great music, and awesome characters. You are liberating oppressed metal-heads along side Lemmy Kilmister, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford, and Lita Ford. Where you may think this game would ultimately appeal to burned out rockers, it doesn't. It is a well planned out humorous take on musical history. The graphics, gameplay, and ideas are so over the top you can't help but laugh. The graphics are amazing, and Tim Schafer, maker of wildly fun games like Psychonauts and The Secret of Monkey Island was the creative director of the game. Although his former cult followed games were known as some of the most fun, they were not big sellers. This should change with Brutal Legend. The gameplay combines aspects of action/adventure, real time strategy, and driving, which seems like it could fail, but Brutal Legend is able to pull it off with ease. Overall the game is perfect for a casual gamer who knows a little bit about his/her music history.
